at Consumer Electronics Show (CES)
|
-
Every
year, barely after the New Year, the consumer technology industry
comes together in Las Vegas for the International Consumer Electronics
Show (CES®) - the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow.
There they introduce and celebrate the latest products and technological
innovations in consumer electronics, including office productivity
tools - the gadgets many of us love and can't manage to work without.
The next International CES runs from January 8-11, 2007. The following
is a preview of some of the gadgets expected to be unveiled at the
show.
The Solar
Charger 2000
The Solar Charger
2000 charges mobile phones and other electronic devices such as
MP3 players, PDAs, GPS, hand-held games (including Sony PlayStation(R)
Portable), and Apple iPod as well as USB and Bluetooth devices.
The device features a 5V 500mA power bank, and has a built-in 3.7V,
900mA portable rechargeable lithium battery. In direct sunlight
conditions, it will fully charge any applicable battery in three
hours; however, it reportedly can still produce a slower charge
even under heavy cloud cover.
The device measuring
8.3" x 8.6"; closed it is 8.3" x 2.8", and weighing
less than 8 ounces will be ideal for road warriors and commuters
alike. It could be particularly handy charging a Pocket PC or Palm
device on an airplane (for those seated next to the window). Pricing
has not yet been announced.
